STATE BUDGET CRISIS CONTINUES!
What does this mean to us?   Jim Negri, Superintendent of the Acalanes High School District recently wrote:
The state is projected to have an $8 billion deficit and the voters have not even gone to the polls.  If the May 19th tax and expenditure propositions do not pass, the state will be facing another $6 billion deficit.  Education as the largest portion of the state budget is bound to take another round of budget cuts.
Suddenly, the projected $3 billion deficit last September is looking "good."  School districts across the state are already being told to brace for mid-year cuts in 2009-2010, three months before the end of the current year.  The Acalanes High School District has already laid off 20.2 FTE of teachers and 16.75 FTE of classified employees.
